Yesterday a couple hours after the death of Whitney Houston, the stars arrived at the Beverly Hills Hilton for the pre Grammy party in Hollywood last night. Clive Davis decied to press on with the bash even though he had heard the news about one of his brightest stars. Very awkward.....Rest in Peace Whitney Houston.

This years golden globes was fill with wild and wonder full evening looks........ but only a few made my best dressed list......

Angelia Jolie never seems to get it wrong and this year she was out to impress in this emerald green Versace dress.......Versace also did not play when it came to creating January Jones red fringe dress......one word amazing!!!!

Giorgio Armani was another classic designer who created some masterpieces for this years awards; sported by Anne Hathaway in this champagne coloured backless dress and Megan Fox above the knee spilt dress with Swarovski crystal embellished strap complimented by Brian Atwood shoes......perfection!!!!!

Claire Dones took classic to the next level adorning this piece of perfection by Calvin Klein Collection.

Besides red, emerald green and pink........ Black was a popular colour on the red carpet! Eva Longoria wore a Zac Posen fishtail dress while Julianne Hough smashed it with this aline dress with a breathtaking next piece by Marcheasa

And Marcheasa did it again creating this amazing ball gown for Olivia Wilde which she used to hide these amazing Louboutin statement shoes!!!! LOVE X3

New year moto moving forward - outfit 4

So first of guys HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Hope every ones new years was as blessed as mine........so after new year’s day I had thirteen days 2 complete the rest of my module and boy 2 and a half outfits down, this was going 2 be a struggle!!! But I just put my bed rest a side a got on with the patter cutting.

..... So moving on from the leather material I decided to use satin as my toiling material

And the by slashing and spreading the panels I was able 2 get the loose motion that I got in toile number 2 which I thinks complements the layered vest!!!!......So on to the next 1

Throught out my dissatation period i have needed some musical comfort and i found that in new rapper WIZ KHALIFA.................

Dissertations are the devil.......

So the reason y have not blogged in 2 weeks is because of the rush to complete my dissertations it was a long road but it got done but watch the photo graphic journey over that 2 weeks.......

So for toile number 4 I wanted to do a 2 piece..........

So I decide to try out a new fabric the process..... Leather!!

But it was not a success...... this was due to the fact that it did not merge with the rest of my collection so it’s back to the sketch book..... Thank God because that was a bitch 2 sew......xoxo

As the time tick improvising is key!!! So from using panels from toile number 1 I started to create toile 3.....which ended up being a maxi.

However something was not working for me and I realised what was........ The ugly colour that I was using to toile with........So I decided to switch to black and have i bright colour underneath to bring back layering in my collection.

This design is now working for me but does need some changes to be 100%.........il let u know how i get on xoxo

Now after 2 days of sweat and tears we see progress with toile number 2........well semi progress....

Modelled by the beautiful Daria I saw the pattern cutting mistakes straight away and this is also from using a lighter weight fabric to create the toile........

Hand stitched together I was able to produce something for my toile review but the dress is defiantly 2 short at the back and needs to be worked on.....will keep u updated. xoxo

From 3d to flat......

Sooooooooo draping shapes can be seen as the easy part but taking this and creating a pattern is a nightmare for me.....

So after avoiding the mannequin (toile number 2) I decided to mark down every fold and pleat and take the fabric from the stand and also mark the base of the dress.......

Ok now to convert this on to paper and sew it all up ......doable.....yes!!! Easy.......no!!!!! xoxo

Now toile number two...... this is the one I’ve been dreading the most due to the fact that the focus of it is drape and how fabric moves. I like things when they are structured for example panels because it makes my life easier..... But this doesn’t.......

Step 1 drape.....

Step 2.......experiment with different fabric.....

Step 3 ......let the fabric do its own movement.....

Step 4............. Let the dress evolve..... and problem solve

Step 5......put it all on 2 pattern paper and sew it all up in 24hours.........this part has not been achieved but will be in 72hours.....Well I hope it will. Let u know how I get on if I get there...... xoxo

Let’s get creative......

So as you know to make my life just that much harder I work at Lipsy London over the weekends but this week was a bit different....

I was able to become a VM for the day and get creative for the Christmas windows and here is what we ended up with.........

Ri Ri has gone from crop to long in a couple of weeks with this eye-catching red colour (which I love) but now I’m starting to realise that she is what she seems to be........

So for my toile review that just passed this Thursday I had to change a few things on my original first toile which would make it a completely new dress.....

Taking advice from my tutor I decided to take out the side seams and the centre back seam just to leave me with a zip opening and 22 panels!!!! Notches were a must here.....

I made these changes to adds value to the garment and I think is has been a success. However it has defiantly showed me I have to brush up o my patter cutting xoxo

To take a break from the deadlines and work (WHICH ARE BOTH DOING MY HEAD IN). I was watch the news today and saw that the kardashian sisters are now bringing out a credit card?!?!?!?!?!?...... Now this is what I call branding!!! Robert George Kardashian (February 22, 1944 – September 30, 2003) was an American Armenian attorney best known as one of the attorneys for, and a friend of, O.J. Simpson; married Kris Jenner and start popping out the money makers one by one......then from there Kim made a sex tape and then their riches were doubled!!!!! So now I am working up to my next toile review which is next week Thursday.........so yet again I’m in PANIC mode!!!! From my last toile review I was given some good feedback from my tutor and it is starting to become clear what direction I’m heading in. Now my first toile worked well but the back of it lack the spark that the front had so I have decided to take the panelling to the back so now the dress will have no side seam just a centre back.

At first this idea sounded like more panels more work but has worked out to be 20 panels all together with selves.

After doing all of this I had to cut all the pieces out again and now I’m going have to transfer them over to paper then back to fabric to sew again.....

Please guys pray for me because this is toile 1 and I haven’t even started 2,3,4.......... xoxo

The 6000 word dissertation

After receiving an ok grade for my formative assessment for my practical module I have realised that I have neglected the module which is the hardest for me which is my 6000 word dissertation; and yes u guest it my deadline is at the end of this term!!!!

I have decided to not link my dissertation to my studio work due to the fact that I don’t want to read books on tropical birds because I don’t like reading full stop so reading on something I’m not so interested in would be a death wish...........

So I have decided to do it on something that im interested in and if u know me u would know what that is straight away.....Partying!!!

So my statement or question has not been finalised but I will be talking about how the music industry and club culture influences people to take consumerism to and uncontrollable level......in stupid terms this means does the music industry and clubbing scene make people buy a whole load of shit the don’t need or even worst that the can afford????

For example look at some of the images of people and celebrities they both are using or drinking the same product but are obviously living two different lives so how is this possible?

Not to say that the people in the pictures cannot afford a £500 pound bottle of ace of spades or lv shades for £300 but if u can afford these things in abundance why would you decided to party in east London???? Or is it because we are a slave to celebrity culture; because the thing that we do forget is that Rick Ross most probably got that bottle for free and was maybe even paid to make an appearance at this club; or Rhianna most probably got them shades in a goody bag at an award ceremony and is wearing them to help promote the Louis Vittion......so who’s the winner the end I think FASHION!!!!!!! Xoxo

So from the last time I left you I was at the draping and design stage then I saw what works for me and went for it……. Then the pattern paper came out……

After a long weekend I was able to sew up my toile for my toile review on Tues…… which went very well even though I was not able to finish both toile’s David (My tutor) was able to see what direction I was going in and the fabric choice of mesh and jersey was working for me as you can see on my beautiful model Zoya…..

As for my second idea even though it related to my concept, it was not working well with the fabric I picked for it;

so I have been told to take a back seat from sewing and go back to the drawing board……..10 line ups by tomorrow errrrrrrm that’s if I don’t die by then due 2 stress……..I am already suffering from alopecia... xoxo

Hopefully it will be a success and look exactly like it does on the paper........as for outfit number 2 due to the sudden change of decision I have had to take a step back and go back to designing so I will let you know if it makes it on a model on Tuesday xoxo

So right now I am ready to explode due to the tight deadline I have and no time to complete it.....so I decided to see what is new in the fashion world and what did I find........... Round 2

So unfortunately I was unable 2 make it to uni today but I was able to find some time to go to Westfield shopping centre and visit a few more high-end high streets shops. These are the shops that a visited.....

So finally I was not made 2 feel like a thief instead I felt very comfortable the costumer service was excellent, must have been the change of outfit or maybe it was the fact that I was in the ghetto of west London!! Looooool. Move forward; after visiting all these shops I realised after looking back at my designs they best fit in 4 shops out of the 10 that I visited over all and they were Liberty as a concession, Karen millen, French connection and Reiss. Besides liberty the other shops the average price for a dress was about £170 in these 3; the styling of each shop was different but the fabics they use were very similar toand the construction of each garment was identical (for example all dresses are lined even jersey!!!!)

BLACK GIRL + HIGH END HIGH STREET STORE = she is going 2 steal???????

After now doing about 50 design ideas I have now realised what field I would market my work into which is high end high street. So to get an idea of the fabrics they used the price range of their stuff and the marketing aspect I decided to visit a few shops before I stared work. The shops where....

So to get in to the care labels to check what fabrics where use to make the garments I had to take a few items from each shop in to the fitting room to take pictures. In each shop especially Aquascutum I was watched like a hawk from when I walked in; they would not let me carry any items myself and the customer services seemed so fake. I have been working in retail since I was 16 years of age so I do know what the stereotype is but isn’t every customer meant to be a suspect.......They actually made me believe that I was a thief so I was hoping that I did not beep when I left the store?!?!?!?! After all that headache I did end up finding out a good bulk of research and realised that if I want a good collection I’m going to have 2 spend a lot of money on fabrics!!!!! I will soon put up pics of some of the items I looked at.......but for now im going to go and work on how not to look like a thief because I still have about a good further 8 shops to look at......I will let u know how I get on xoxo

So today was the day when the 150 designs ideas had to start because the schedule of work is running about two days late at the moment so I’m started to panic......the university’s LRC is always the best place to get started but today was just not doing it for me; it was too hot in the building, facebook was my biggest distraction and a guy that I have fancied for the whole time I have been at uni was sitting opposite me while my eyebrows where melting off.......this was not working out for me so for 2hours I sat there with a blank page!!!!!

So then I decided to go on YouTube to listen to some music to get me in the mood........ Most people would listen to chilled music to get in to the mood. However my creative mind was flared up by GIGGS...... for those of you who don’t know who he is, he is one of the best uk rappers born and bred in south London. While listen to STEP IN THE ROOM ft tiny boost from the ‘who said that?’ mix tape I was able to do 13 design ideas.......and the song is only 2 mins and 46 seconds long ....... I think I need 2 get his album the 150 designs will be done in no time!!!! The final 7 months......

So my final year collection is based on tropical birds........I have done intense research on most types of tropical birds but to go down the safe route I decided to focus on 1 bird which was the peacock ......

But my teacher brought is 2 my attention that the more broad the idea the better it is when it come to fashion so I have gone back to studying all types of tropical birds to get a more exciting and more successful collection.

This is a very hard topic to base a collection on; even just from the pure fact that I have a lot of primary research from the national history museum which gives me a lot to work with but is hard to narrow down to just 5 outfits.

Lipsy new store opening in westfield white city..............but do we really need Essex in west London

On Thursday 14^th Oct 2010 the new Lipsy store opened. Beside the stores lakeside and bluewater shopping the white city store is the addition 2 there London based stores. Even though the company relies on celebrity spotting in there outfits to boost sales do they really have a place in the fashion world????

As a high street brand lispy just designs and caters for there customer however is this a positive???? Have the put business before fashion??

Most outfits they sell are party dresses or valour tracksuits which went out ages ago but now they are attempting to branch out and study trend and focus on cut so is this positive for the company or could this all back fire? Pixie lots range is defiantly a step in the right direction for the company and may be the change that the needed to let go of the ‘Essex girl’ stereotype that they have rounded up over the years.

At the moment I am working with this company so I will be defiantly up dating you with the company’s progress and elevation...........DONT STEROTYPE HIGH STREET FASHION IS ALWAYS CHANGING!!!!!

but as time has passed me and the co founder of the brand Isi london have decided to go our separate ways in our business relationship due to uni and other project that we have ahead. This does not mean it is the end for Rfg just a brief hold which will allow it 2 grow in 2 bigger and better things! xoxo
